Why use PageGym and not something else?
PageGym is more than a page speed test, it's a lab-grade page load behaviour analysis and optimization tool.
It's special
We have deep respect for all competing tools, since many of them have been there for us at a time when PageGym was not around, and they also provided the inspiration that started this project.
While the majority of those tools are based on Lighthouse at least in some capacity, PageGym is a fully independent development, and because of this, it is one of the very few that are actually different.
It's exceptional
1. Raw metrics
A page speed test on PageGym is exactly what you'd expect. We load your page in an actual browser, under the specified test conditions and take measurements as the page is being loaded. This is in contrast to other tools, which instead perform a full-speed load, and then simulate the conditions of the test on the recorded data.
2. Consistency
A lot of effort has been poured into keeping variability as low as possible. For example, we do not use a serverless architecture even though it would have made economical sense. That is because each test receives known dedicated resources to ensure each page load happens in similar conditions every time.
3. Advanced analysis tools
Being created primarily for analysis, it features tools and options that provide a much better insight into why the page is loading the way it does. This means that instead of having to go through a checklist, you can pinpoint the exact cause of the slowdown, and address only that.
PageGym also allows you to apply various optimizations so you can see the effect they would have, without having to change your code.

We do have usage limits, but for the most part PageGym can be used for free, and even without an account.
